Weight Challenge. Swimming

Unfortunately I have developed a heel spur. It's not lovely, and it hurts a lot, so I've had to reduce my walking.

Fortunately, I have had advice from an old friend on Facebook who turned out to be a podiatrist and advised me to get new joggers (anti-pronating... big word for 'don't let your foot roll in please') and wear them constantly.

Sadly, no Skechers shapeups for me now. But these give me such great support that I feel better already.

Fortunately as well, the weather has turned hot enough so that I can head to the local pool on my child-free days and do laps three times a week.

Instead of counting laps, I am swimming to time. I decided to start with 20 minutes per day, and we'll see if I increase it later. The first day I found myself breathless. The second day I was able to work harder, but I found myself feeling sick because I am obviously SO SO VERY unfit.

Anyway, it feels great, and hopefully will help in the grand aim of getting THINNER!

Weight Challenge. Walk it off

Check these shoes out.

Shape Ups - Sleek FitThey are Skechers Shape-ups. I saw them in the shoeshop today with a tag on them saying, "Lose weight in these" and laughed, until someone explained to me that the shape of the sole makes you work as hard to walk as you do in soft sand so basically, you get fitter just by wearing them.

Cool.

I'maiming to unwrap a pair for Christmas... thanks to Mum...

Weight Challenge. Week 10?

This is either week 9 or week 10, and I'm sorry to say that since my last update, the scales have not moved downwards. In fact, they have crept ever so slightly upwards again.

Gosh, dang it.

This whole thing is quite depressing. I really wish there was a magic bullet. Unfortunately, as my husband reminded me last night, there's no quick solution.

I decided that what I have been doing is not working well enough, so my new approach is to try to increase my metabolic rate rather than eat less.

More exercise and muscle building is needed, apparently. Green tea helps a little too. Five to six small protein-rich meals per day, and LOTS of water are part of the deal.

I've got to find the right way to do this, because I don't want to still be mooching around depressed over my tummy rolls in a year's time.

Weight Challenge. Week 6 update

The scales are groaning slightly less this week. I got on, full of trepidation, after a few days of eating for 'politeness' to find that I've now lost 2kg in total. Yes, I'm sitting pretty at 78kg.

Now I can lose 8 more. And then I can lose 5 more. It sounds better than saying '13 to go'.
