Too much of a good thing

I've been describing the benefits of taking Zinc to Bright Eyes. He told me yesterday that his head feels less 'orbity' since he's been taking it. He's recommended it to another child who seems to have an orbity head, and he's been asking to take it every day.

This afternoon, however, he decided to take matters into his own hands and made himself his own 'Zinc drink'. Unfortunately, he used a heck of a lot of zinc. Out he came and said, "mum, my zinc drink tasted really bitter."

Yeah, well it would. I normally put in 2mls. He poured in a quarter of the bottle. That would be about 50mls.

Then he vomited. Twice. All over the rug. Then he blamed me for 'not getting his zinc drink'.

We had a family discussion about how you Must Not Ever Get Out Medicine Yourself to which all the other children nodded with agreement. They didn't like the sight of vomited apple on the carpet, apparently.

So I might hold off on giving him any more zinc for a day or so. In the meantime, I'm glad he's convinced of it's benefits. At least in small doses.
